If you're thinking of taking a lady friend somewhere special to celebrate, I would highly recommend the high tea at The Langham. This is a place that needs to be experienced. I learnt about their afternoon teas through a friend of mine. She's obsessed with Paris and London High Tea and she thinks the Langham is comparable to some of the best Europe has to offer. That's quite a compliment!
The Langham Hotel epitomises luxury. The rooms are wonderful, spacious areas for peace and tranquility. They even get better if you choose the more luxurious options on higher floors which cost more but do have several perks to reward you. I attended a conference here which was a weekend experience not for the faint hearted. Banquet dinner, party after party with superb food and service. I felt like royalty the entire weekend. Langham is synonymous with opulence and luxury. A must if you wish to pamper yourself to the hilt.
The Langham in Auckland is home to two of my very favourite Auckland experiences. The first is the Langham's high tea. A cake tower packed full of little treats - scones, club sandwiches, cakes, pastries are all on their. You can opt to have it with tea or champagne (or if you're like me, champagne and then tea). It's a fantastic way to while away a few hours (make sure you have plenty of time to relax and soak in the experience - you'll feel like a princess). If you can't fit it all in (and I certainly can't) then they will box up whatever is left for you to take away with you. The second is Eight at the Langham. I loath to call this place a buffet as it is so much more but that is the general idea. There are eight different kitchens (sushi kitchen, grill, seafood, desert etc) and you chose what you would like and they cook it for you. I spent three hours here, had some of the most amazing food of my life, and practically had to roll myself home all the while planning what I would eat next time. Both of these things are absolute MUST do's. Put them on the bucket list.
The Langham is an Auckland landmark. One of the most luxurious hotels available in the city of sails. I've been to stay once and have had a couple of company dinners at their fantastic restaurant. Guests are treated with the courtesy and respect you'd expect at a hotel of this calibre, and it really is hard to fault them on anything from check-in to check-out. Book a night or 3 to really impress for when you'd like to treat your significant other. Highly recommended.
