I popped into Countdown Glenfield to do a spot of brunch shopping this morning and found the aisles to be less cramped than most supermarkets I've been to in recent years.  Not so claustrophobic, and the service at checkout was genuinely friendly and polite.

If have problems easy to approach, convenient, great range of products at low prices

Cool shop, great variety, lots of great bargains

I don't use any other supermarket, very friendly and helpful staff all over new Zealand (I travel a lot!). Great prices and deals

Countdown Glenfield is a mixed bag... some of it is great, some not so great. My main issue is parking, although this could be considered a shared fault between Westfield Mall and Countdown. Unfortunately it is very difficult to get a park anywhere near the supermarket doors, and sometimes there are no parking spaces at all. Once I have finally found a park and walked some great distance to the store with my infant capsule containing newborn in tow, I've recently been pleasantly surprised to find a special trolley which the infant capsule just slots into, sort of like a cradle. There are straps to secure the capsule and the whole trolley space to load groceries. Excellent innovation, Countdown. Another negative is the expiry date on some of the products. For example, recently I bought a couple of bottles of fizzy drink. They sat in the cupboard for only two weeks before being opened and drunk, and the taste was a little off. Looking at the expiry date on the bottles, they had in fact expired only 2 prior. Bad marks Countdown for selling a long-life product with only a week and a half left on the date.
