Daikoku is another forefather in the Auckland culinary scene. Before most people even knew what Salmon Avocado Sushi were, Daikoku was there entertaining diners with their tepanyaki chefs. It's a bit of a dark smokey place, but sip on some sakes and enjoy the hot tepanyaki chicken, beef or seafood dishes straight from your table.
Daikoku has a distinctly Japanese feel to it. I havent yet been to Japan but get the feeling it would be just like this restaurant there. Teppen yaki is a Japanese food extravaganza and Daikoku are the experts. The food is divine, my choice is usually the Splash & Meadow (Beef & prawns) set menu at $49.00. Add the famous yum yum sauce and its a sublime meal with a show to boot. All set menus ( there are some in the $30's) include Miso Soup, an appetizer, salad with Daikoku Dressing, Prawn (2pc), Vegetables and rice. Lets just say you wont leave hungry. Definitely a great choice out for dinner with a difference.
