Had the most amazing lunch in Mission Bay last week. I've been to Fontein a number of times and have always stuck to the mussels because they are my favourite. This time however I was feeling adventurous and fancied something with a little more substantial to insulate against the chilly winter air. The lamb rump sounded like it would fit the bill, it was served with potato roast, wilted spinach, grilled capsicum, Portobello mushrooms, skewered bacon and olives, not forgetting a taste minty lamb jus. Well what a great choice when the friendly waitress delivered to our table my friends were green with envy. It was almost to pretty to eat. The taste was divine, the rump tender and juicy, the veggies the perfect match. This is a great example of how successful it can be to try something different for a changes, I am so pleased I tried something different it was well worth it.
Written a few reviews about restaurants in the Mission Bay Area. For some reason whenever I'm next to the beach I can't help but order nothing but seafood. Same goes for De Fontein, try their mussel pot or seafood platter. Goes down a treat with their tap beer and soaking up the sun on their 2nd floor deck. Mint!!
All the Belgian Beer Cafes have an amazing selection of European beers, of which I highly recommend the Duvel. The pork ribs fall off the bone, the 1 metre of sausage is delicious, the calamari is a fantastic starter and the hoegarden pâté is something else. And sign up for the loyalty card, it might be the best loyalty programme in the city because a $1 return on every $10 spent is second to none in the restaurant business.
