we went here on valentine's day. the restaurant is really nice, we loved the starters that came and then feasted on some mexican style beef and stake. the food was properly cooked and the setting too is really nice. it is situated right opposite mission bay so nice for a good feed after a good walk.
I went here with my partner who's a Southern California native. She was a little concerned when we moved here that we wouldn't be able to find good Mexican food. Dos Amigos put that concern to rest! The food was excellent and the service was pretty good too. It is a tad pricey though, hence 4 stars instead of 5. However, we were lucky enough to go on the 4th of July when they have a 10% discount for anyone with a USA ID!
Dos Amigos is an all-rounder when it comes to the dining out experience! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is one of exuberance and bustle. It's colourful and there are various seating options. Your meal is ready ridiculously quickly and it is always completely delicious! The menu is varied, yet simple; I personally want to try everything! The selection of drinks is equally impressive and on Thursday's from 5pm there's tequila tasting!!! I thoroughly enjoyed my tequila tasting experience and would recommend it to anyone. I learnt all about the way agave is harvested, how tequila is made, the aging process, what differentiates the brands and more from the very enthusiastic bartender who answered all my questions with such passion! You can choose to taste whichever tequilas take your fancy, depending on your budget. My friend and I each chose a brand and 3 different ages of tequila from it. It was amazing to compare how different the tequila tasted based on its age and the reasons why were all explained. I got a completely different perspective on tequila, since most of my experiences with it have been with the cheap and nasty stuff at clubs. This was completely different, no need for salt and lemon, I really appreciated the flavours and you could actually sip it, no need to shot it back. I'd thoroughly recommend heading to Dos Amigos for a delicious meal and enlightening tequila tasting, great night out!!
