In the heart of the Waitakere region is a gem of a cafe housed inside East West Organics New Lynn that’s somewhere every health-lover in Auckland should pay homage to at least once. Raw, gluten-free, dairy-free and refined-sugar-free options are the rule not the exception here and, along with their great green smoothies, their salads are absolutely stand-out. That’s because they grow all the nutrient-rich greens and vegetables in their gardens out front and you can’t get much fresher than that. Their green salads are particularly incredible because you just can’t go past hand-picked kale or spinach - both superstars of the vege world!

A one-stop alternative to being mauled at the mall - includes an awesome little art gallery with art, toys jewellery etc and great cafe as well as organics store and bakery. There is a floor of natural practitioners upstairs and a herbal dispensary with talented practitioners as well - could spend half a day there quite easily....

Ethos Cafe at East West Organics in New Lynn is one of my go-to stops for an excellent, health-giving smoothie or juice. I love the feeling I get when I walk through the abundant vegetable gardens out front, knowing that the ingredients in my pulped juice or smoothie creation has been picked fresh that morning by the dedicated staff. You can opt for a juice ($8.50) or a smoothie ($10.50) at Ethos and my all-time favourite pick-me-up is their Super Green creation - a tasty (and antioxidant-boosting) mix of kale, spinach, celery, broccolini, apple, ginger and lemon. It's like a health hit in a cup (and a generous cup at that!). I also love their Choc and Go smoothie when I'm feeling like a sweet treat and that's because I simply love the unusual mix of ingredients with cacao powder and banana being complemented with the omega-3 boosting benefits of hemp seeds. I feel so lucky that Ethos is in my local!

The cafe is brilliant, including superb coffee, spectacular vegetarian food, and some of the friendliest staff you're likely to meet. Couple that with a truly brilliant bakery that uses all-natural ingredients and you'll begin to understand why I believe this place rocks. Plus there's a huge health-foods store. And did I mention the naturopathic supplies? And the fresh fruit and vegies? And the art gallery? Trust me, this place is awesome - in so many ways. #darkhorse

Green Trading products can be found at East West Organics New Lynn

I love Green Trading products - am a big fan of their coconut sugar and also their neem soap. It's a fantastically natural way to rid my dogs of itchy skin at this time of year. Thank you!

I love everything bar one about this place. The woman who is front of house (counter) at the cafe, is just plain rude, make that unfriendly and rude. I have bought a couple of friends in for a coffee and my Mum and Sister too, they also didn't like her manner. So much so that they have been put off coming back! You really need an amazingly friendly upbeat person to serve customers so that they want to come back!!!

The range, the cafe, the vibe, the staff :D

Ethos cafe has become our regular weekend brunch spot. I love the vegan-friendly food and the staff are extra-nice. Go there!
