Wow, Japanese is my favourite food and I really cool eat at Ebisu every day if my wallet allowed. Such delicious morsels of food and fairly reasonably priced for high end Japanese food. Definitely highly recommend!

Great :)

I had been dying to try Ebisu since it had opened but the stars had never aligned until last week! But boy was it worth the wait! Must haves - Seared steak, truffle, avocado and feta sushi - what an amazing combination! Also the Karaage Chicken was not on the greasy side - hard to achieve with fried chicken - so this was also fantastic. The pickled warm eggplant had just the right hint of chili. All in all a fantastic meal and we will be returning!

Awesome :)

Ok, this place isn't cheap by any measure, but you're paying for quality. The big sushi and sashimi platter is awesome, and they have some top end other options too. In my experience, service can be a little variable depending on which night you're in and how busy they are. It's in a good location, right next to the Britomart precinct and is justifiably popular.

Love this place and i think they have great food and great selection of wine! make sure to order the chicken Sushi. I will not recommend going very hungry. Deserts are a bit small but they are delicious. Green Tea icecream is recommended.

Came here for dinner and we were blown away. Every dish prettier than the last, all sublime, the tofu, which sounded like the least exciribg dish, we had to order two more of. The new style sashimi is something else, delicately strewn with edible flowers, it was a work of art. Exquisite cocktails, lovely service, dramatic decor, and well priced, this is a perfect place for any occasion, anytime. They don’t take bookings unless you’re a group of 8. It’ worth trying, you won’t be disappointed. I’m going back for more, the beef tataki is some of the best I’ve had, and their apple cinnamon scented dumplings with icecream are incredibly moreish.

Typos abounding! Of course I meant exciting. The tofu was very, very exciting indeed. I never thought I could ever get excited about tofu, but I guess life is full of surprises.

Sounds superb :)

Ive been to Ebisu 3 times now and while each time I hope its going to deliver more, it doesn't. After so much hype and a hefty price tag per head  ($70 without drinks) I expect more. We did not have a reservation but found the staff to be friendly, and accommodating despite having a large private function. The place was buzzing, generally larger tables of suits soaking in the vibe and enjoying a few drinks.  We ordered 2 small plates to start,  the scallops and the sirloin tataki. The servings were a nice size to share but they lacked excitement in flavour. I had hoped for flavours which popped in my mouth and left me wanting more. We also ordered a rainbow maki which was good but not much better than my local sushi where I pay $8 not $19. The seared tuna tataki was simple and of a very high quality, definitely the best savoury dish we ate! Deserts were the best part, we had Plum wine Sorbet and Vanilla Miso ice cream both were yummy! Unfortunately to add to my displeasure all of the above dishes except for the desert were delivered at the same time and the table was not big enough. Plates ended up balancing off edges and we felt rushed to finish our food and move on.  After 3 visits I won't be in a hurry to return. At this price point I expect every dish to be unique, and full of flavour.

From the moment we entered, the service was near flawless. We were welcomed on entry, shown to our table, served water and provided menus in around a minute. Topped with well timed taking of orders, speedy delivery of our drinks then food, then more drinks and finally dessert was a refreshing experience. The venue had a great buzz, a bit echo-y, though it felt intimate enough that we could comfortably have a private conversation whilst we dined. In simplicity Ebisu masters a monumental balancing act of great tastes & textures, presentation, service and ambience.

Yet another amazing experience at Ebisu! The happy bar man let me try a few Rose and had a great wine knowledge! My table of 6 were seated quickly and food was prompt and scrummy
