Perennially popular, Enigma ticks every box you'd want from a cafe. Funky decor, inexpensive yet impressive cabinet and menu food, delicious gelato and strong, tasty coffee. Add on the late night liquor license and you have yourselves an all-day winner. And the best part is that the (pictured) eggs benny will only set you back $13. And be sure to bring a dollar for the pinball machine.
It's a feast for the eyes and the taste-buds at Enigma Café, conveniently located on Courtenay. The walls are decorated with funky street art and long mirrors, there's space to sit inside - and outside in a courtyard for the smokers. What's even better is the food - fresh, large portions, paninis, filos, an extensive hot menu, a huge drinks menu and a gelato cabinet! The friendly staff at Enigma will sort you out.
Enigma are great for everything as they have tons of indoor seating, a big outdoor covered courtyard area and they serve everything from snacks to full menu, to drinks and even gelato (my fave)! I like to come here to chill out from the manic party scene that is Courtenay Place and chill over a wine...
When I'm feeling a little worse for wear, and trying to avoid bright lights and doof-doof music, I head straight to Enigma. They have little dark corners for my weary head. An outdoor courtyard for the smokers so I can get some 'fresh air' and pretty wall murals that take me away to a tropical island. They also have huge chocolate thickshakes that I cannot avoid when hung, giant plates of BLAT's with fries too, and then to top off the entire meal, gelato. I honestly believe that if you eat enough milk when you're hungover, it temporarily cancels the whole hangover out. This might just be my obsession with dairy talking, though. The best thing about Enigma, is that when you're hungover it's usually due to a giant night out when you spent far too much money on things that made you feel this way. SO, with an empty wallet staring back at you, all you need to get a decent hangover fix here, is about $20. Any more and you'll be ordering too much!
