Good things are: there's always plenty of parking close to the entrance; it's fairly empty during the day; there are lots of counters; they have 3D movies. Not so good: it's in the mall; they started charging for ordering your tickets online; they don't have a 'tickets only' counter; the walkway out to the car park could do with a bit of tlc.
these are our cinemas of choice - close to home and good parking usually, but i would advise anyone going there to get there tickets a few hours before the start time so you can just wander in. the lines can go forever. i find the volume usually good at these cinemas - i have been to theatres where you walk out deaf at the end and they maintain a generally pretty high standard of cleanliness (althought the ladies was messy today which is why i gave them a four out of five).
Nothing worse than going to the movies to sit where you can't see.. or have a huge head in front of you and an elbow not belonging to you in your ribs.... NOT HERE!!! Big soft seats where no one gets in your way. Great sound, great picture and great amenities. As a mercury movie club member i get free popcorn every ticket too.. can't beat that.
We go to the movies here 2 or 3 times every holidays. Once again we had a very pleasant experience. Plush seating.. no big heads in your way. Good spacing, comfortable and great view of the screen. Only quibble would be its always bloody freezing in here so I take a spare jumper - even when its 25 degrees outside... I usually buy my tickets online so I can jump the queue when I get there to pick them up.. Soooooo easy. Just how I like it.
So the cinema complex at St Lukes feels a little dates... this doesn’t matter. It is a great place to go IF you want to see one of the latest Hollywood blockbusters or comedies. You won’t get anything arthouse here, but they do often show popular New Zealand Films which is great. And the best thing.... all that parking!!!!!!!!
