Great ambience in a tiny space. Coffee to die for.

There is a reason this is Wellington's most iconic cafe -you can not beat it! Sundays in Wellington are not complete without a lazy brunch at Fidel's. It is a bustling cafe with outdoor space to accommodate the typical, Wellingtonian smokers. A hipster's haven, the cuban cafe is made up of flamboyant decor and speedy waiters. The food is to not be missed, along with the fresh juices, though it really is the snicker milkshake the locals rave about!

Fidels is a simple but unique cafe dressed up in vibrant and imaginative Cuban lookin decor. It's always packed here but the waitresses can usually squeeze you in as their seating out the wazzoo including two outdoor areas and two indoor. Food and drink is delicious - oreo shakes, chilli hot chocolates, fried chicken and waffles, and good ol' eggs benny - they do it all. A must try if you're after a hearty brunch or lunch on Cuba St.

Affordable food, with speedy service and even though its always busy its possible to get lost in the rush and just do what you need to do using the wifi. With meals for the whole day, whenever you’re around the far end of Cuba Street, Fidels is a great option.

Food is delicious and the atmosphere is so funky! Can’t get enough of this place :)

Fidels is like a warm and fuzzy hug from a long lost friend. It's cozy, super friendly and totally welcoming. On most disgustingly windy Wellington days I would squeeze myself into a little booth or nook of the cafe and just hover over my double-shot whilst nibbling on my super sized afghan. That's the thing about Fidels, they get what your coffee wants to hang out with that day. Whether it's a giant bicky or a sickly sweet slice of mud cake, it will just be there ready and waiting for your indulgence. Sure, they do great milkshakes, have an amazing playlist and a general sense of good vibes, but it's the coffee that wins you over. Strong and smooth without being a kicker. It hits the spot.

I don't know if you still do them but the best milkshake I remember having is you 'snickers' flavored one!

No one's ever been able to fault Fidels for its coffee or food, but the service has been a bit... well, lacklustre, if not outright haphazard in the past. But I checked it out last week and I was pleasantly surprised. I was seated by a maitre d' – no more prowling the two indoor areas and two outdoor areas looking for a spare space to squeeze into – and served promptly and politely, and better yet, I was able to pay by eftpos at my table. Now there's no reason not to go there!

Freshly-squeezed fruit juice and Spanish baked eggs could cure any food craving or hangover. This is the ultimate brunch spot that has something for everyone wether you're looking for a big meal, a snack or even a GF or vegan treat. Sit outside on a warm day.

Even since moving to Welly Fidel's has become a favorite of mine, the atmosphere can be a bit cramped but the food and service is always above and beyond. They cater for lots of dietary requirements which I love and the set up makes for good socializing. A must go to if you're new to Welly or want a decent hearty breakfast/brunch. #cafetab
