How can one have a flat point? The oxymoronic name comes from the fact that when Captain Cook saw it from the sea on 11th February 1770, coming southward, the beach appeared flat.

What we do know is that this slice of paradise, situated 60kms east between Masterton and Carterton in the mighty Wairarapa, has a reef area and a local lodge and vineyard.
