Founders Organic Brewery & Cafe

If you need a place to relax and enjoy a beer while the kids have fun, Founders bar is perfect - with a playground for the kids and lovely outside area, umbrellas to keep the sun off and great food to go with the organic brewery beer that’s brewed on the premises.

Yummy Founders beer has been made in Nelson for many years and is known and loved by the locals. Founders cafe and brewery recently had a facelift, so you can see the brewing in action, and they sell their own very tasty range of brews, alongside a great range of cafe food. There’s a spacious beer garden and plenty of space for kids to run around.

The mixed bowl of salad from the cabinet at Founders is great value and very tasty - three different salads for under $10 and very tasty they were too- Great for lunch to to accompany a tasting platter at this gorgeous cafe.

Friday nights at Founders in the summer are a beautiful thing. Try a founders pie and salad for $13 - best valuer and delicious too. There’s a great family summer evening atmosphere here and plenty of kid friendly room while the grown ups relax over a founders beer.

Sunday morning might be a bit early for a beer but this is the place for a relaxing family brunch. Enjoy the delicious menu, which has excellent gluten free and vegetarian options, and a Pomeroys coffee while the children do their own thing on the playground next door.

Founders café is my best place for a holiday weekend coffee or lunch – lots of play space for the little bunnies to hop around, great coffee and food, (beer, even, if you like…) and out of town a little so you’re not caught up in the sales-shopping madness. Loved the brewery tour, loved the cheese scones, loved the newly revamped indoor-outdoor eating space. Hoppy Easter.
