Funicular Eatery

There is not a whole lot of great cafes down the Lambton Quay end of town, but this is one of my favourites: People's coffee, plenty of space and a great range of cabinet food as well as a tasty menu. Easy to forget you can access it from the Terrace, too – convenient no matter where your office is. Plus the main guy is exactly like Rob Lowe's character from Parks and Recreation....You'll see.

This is the closest place to Boulcott Street and my office that serves up Peoples Coffee so it automatically makes the list. Also helps that their amazing salads are well worth hanging around for a newspaper read and lunchtime bite to eat.

Their caramelised apple French toast is easily the best in town - but all of their menu and cabinet food is delish! They also have smoothies and milkshakes if you’re that way inclined, plus great coffee (get a takeaway with a muffin for a pick-me-up morning tea). Find them tucked away above The Body Shop on Lambton Quay.
