Wynyard Quarter is always a great place to take little ones keen for a run around and a bit of exploring, and nearby North Wharf has some decent eateries for refuelling when the time comes. Gelatiamo is one of our favourites, both for the good, strong coffee and tasty gelato. They use ingredients imported from Italy so the goods are as authentic as it gets, and they also serve fat free sorbetto for those with an eye on the scales. Grab a cone and keep walking, or eat in on their well sheltered verandah.
We popped in here today for ice cream and hot drinks. The kids' ice creams were still large and they only just managed to finish them. They came with a "special treat" chocolate fish. They had a good selection of delicious looking cakes/ slices etc. My hot chocolate was really yummy too. And, of course, the location is superb. We sat outside and looked out over the water.
I've been here a couple of times and I always end up getting more scoops than I should. The flavours are so inviting and there are so many to choose from that I find it hard to decide. The portion sizes are very generous, so even though it seems expensive it is worth it. The place is always clean and tidy, and the staff are quite patient - especially given all the um'ing and ah'ing trying to decide which flavours to have! (and that was just the adults)
