A famous winery in the heart of Otago, Gibbston Valley Wines is a great place. There is a cellar door and restaurant that are both open daily, and to keep the kids entertained there are also regular cave tours. Whilst you're there make sure you pick up some merchandise including a cool t-shirt

    We had a great lunch and the food was delicious, the reisling was also exceptionally good and we bought a few bottles to take home. We also loved the olive oil and bought a bottle of that as well. Service was ok but, that might have been because it was busy at that time. I will go back when we visit Queenstown next and also do the wine tour.

      Gibbston is a must-stop on any wine tour itinerary of Central Otago. Yes, it can seem a little bit touristy, but it's done really well. A decent restaurant with outside seating, and often has live music. Can't decide on what wine to try? Go for one of their tasting sets and sample a few at the same time! They also have tours of their unique wine cave as well as the winery itself.
