Golden Dawn

Auckland has been waiting for a bar like the Golden Dawn for so long! This is somewhere you can completely cut loose and relax at the same time. The staff are extremely attentive (and encouraging!) with table service until it gets too busy. The tap beers are local Hallertau Brewery's wonderful selection - well played there Gold Dawn! Auckland music luminaries DJing practically every night means you're never in danger of muzac, far from it in fact!

A nice place for drinks with friends. It has very nice craft beer ( hallertau at the moment ) on tap, which goes down a treat in the sunny courtyard. The outdoor area is my favorite. At night there are heaters galore, in the day it's sunny, and the tables are a great size for groups of friends. 

The Atmosphere is great, it feels like you're chilling out at a friend's house but you're actually not. Amazing drink selection but rather pricy and great service.

Despite some reservations - I went along and was pleasantly suprised.  It was a Wednesday however - I hear it gets a lot cooler on the weekends.  Nice food, good wine list and a not tooooo arrogant bunch of staff.

Kinda cool place but if you are not a smoker it may not be a suitable place. It seems to be an extremely popular place among people who smoke. I liked the place, but had to leave because my lung just couldn’t take no more.

Had a few catch-up drinks at Golden Dawn. It's a nifty place to catch up with some good mates in the Ponsonby area. It's around the corner and there's no big signage, but once you find the sidedoor you're ushered into a somewhat intimate interior bar. From there you can walk to the back courtyard which is really where the bar comes to life. It's decorated with beautiful fairlylights and preserves the funky Ponsonby vibe with a bit of circus tent feel thrown in.  No wonder the semi-celebs of Auckland love it. This is where the cool kids mix with the city kids mix with the jocks and the media personalities. Way cooler than The Longroom in my opinion.

Great little double bar with an excellent courtyard. Hallertau beer on tap and a good selection of DJs on good nights. Recommended.
