So, as you’ve probably guessed by now I’m going a bit off the beaten track for this list, and Hamurana Lodge is no exception. A 15 minute drive from the city centre into the Rotorua Hills overlooking Lake Rotorua and Mokoia Island, this amazing getaway can’t be beat for views. Also the restaurant is amazing, and many people make the trip just for that. You can dine on the manor’s balcony or in the gardens, adding to the experience. Hamurana Lodge has all the facilities you’d expect from boutique accommodation, with that little bit of extra special charm.
