Mmmmmmm - a selection of aceness in this place, good price too.

In a pie-saturated country, these guys make the healthiest pies in town.

Harvest Wholefoods is a great little store in the heart of Grey Lynn that specialises in natural, organic and gluten free foods. My girlfriend suffers from a number of food allergies so we often pop in here to pick up supplies, The Little Bird gluten free treats being a specific weakness of hers. The store stocks a whole range of other products including gluten free pastries, a large bulk bin section, eco-friendly cleaning products and organic fruit and vegetables. The staff are all extremely helpful and full of good advice on what products contain.

A great organic store with in house naturopaths. I can never leave this store without buying something! They have a great range of natural skin care products I'm a sucker for. Also great just to pop in and grab a healthy snack.  And if you're feeling a bit under the weather you can get a remedy made up by one of their in house naturopaths like Karen. She's amazing!

Harvest is the best organic and whole foods store in Auckland. It has a large fresh fruit and vegetable section, the bulk bins are chocka full of nuts, seeds, legumes, dried fruit, cereals and grains and the shelves are always loaded with the finest organic supplies available. The tea selection is overwhelming but the staff are always on hand to offer advice. There is a naturopath on the floor than can give direction on what vitamins and natural remedies will best suit you and there is a range of organic skin and haircare to suit most needs. They have had organic wines and beers for a while now, which is helpful, as finding an organic Sav in the supermarket can be impossible at times.

This store is fascinating to visit, even just to spend time looking through at the eclectic product mix.  Although vegetarian, I generally go here for a reason, more so for a health-aid/healing type product rather than general food requirements, due to, what  I consider, to be rather high prices, for the general items I can buy elsewhere.

After popping in to Raw Essentials just round the corner, went to Harvest for some bits and pieces while we were in the neighborhood. Picked up some organic flour, organic wholemeal spelt flour (inspiration from the Fabulous Baker Brothers show on choice tv the other night) and organic carrots. Got some bread on the bake at the moment so will see if you can actually taste the difference. You can really taste the difference in the organic carrots. They're so sweet, tasty and more crunchy than the crap you get at the supermarket. Not that it's the carrots fault, it's the people growing them and spraying them with chemicals.

Thanks for the tip!

Coming from San Francisco, I have seen this sort of store in dozens of incarnations. Expensive, rarified, and sometimes useful, but not well rounded enough to qualify as a regular stop for groceries or supplies. If you're on the hunt for a special cream, or you need an uncommon mineral supplement, or want a tea you can't find anywhere else, Harvest is the place for you. I can't, however, say that its selection warrants the side trip. Harvest is quite expensive. As others have said, you can find certain identical products at other stores for less. All these little nits I have would evaporate if Harvest had that one special quality that differentiates memorable organic stores -- friendly, engaged, accessible, incredibly knowledgeable staff. I've been to this store perhaps half a dozen times and have no intention of returning because I find the staff, while lovely and healthy, to be remote and a bit snotty. There are entirely too many good businesses in the region to pay Harvest's high prices in return for almost no roaming floor support. So much potential, but I've seen others do it with much more class.

Pro: Always some good offers, heaps of organic choices Con: Some is really overpriced and sold in supermarket for much less My favourite organic shop! They have a great variety of organic foods and I always find good bargains in their special offers.

Love how everything’s organic and have a great range of vitamins etc. There’s always a naturopath on hand out back to make up mixtures if needed. A perfect location for it also
