Due to the temperate climate of the Coromandel Peninsula and the Hauraki Plains, this cycle trail can be ridden year-round and is within easy driving distance of Hamilton, Auckland and Tauranga. The trail is 82km long and visitors can enjoy coastal and farmland vistas as well as experiencing the rich pioneering history of the area. There's even a tunnel that's 1.1km and kids love riding through it!

A major highlight includes riding through the stunning Karangahake Gorge, which is one of the “14 wonders of New Zealand”.

It’s a bike trail and every year we have a tradition where we bike from Paeroa to Thames. We stop at a few pubs for refreshments. It started out as being just a few mates but now it’s a pretty big party. It’s a great thing to do on a nice day.
