Hidden away on a backstreet in Newmarket is Heart of Flavour, the artisanal bakery that produces some of the tastiest cakes in Auckland. The focus here is on flavour and high quality ingredients with simple but chic decorations, You must try the banana and almond cake with passionfruit curd filling, it's absolutely divine and the perfectly light without being too sweet. Their chocolate buttermilk cake is also incredibly delicious and high on my list of favourite cakes too.
I love heart of flavour. Their cakes are impeccable and so simply presented. Their passionfruit mousse cake is beautifully layered inside with a tart passionfruit, white choc mousse and perfect sponge cake. And on the bottom is my favourite part - the biscuit base! They have frozen desserts too which are perfect to take home. But my most addictive thing to buy from HoF is their chocolate praline coated almonds. I'm not even sure if it's praline but it's a thin layer of crispy toffee caramel crisp and then coated in pure decadent milky chocolate. If you dare eat a single one you're pretty much eaten the entire packet. These are not for sharing!
I often go to Heart of Flavour to buy my cakes and desserts. They are amazing! The service is friendly and efficient. Michelle is very helpful and knowledgeable. The cakes are just delicious. Whenever I try a new cake I think I have found my new favourite, until I try the next one. I think I have tried most of them now and still have trouble deciding which one to chose each time. They also have chocolates, biscuits, fudge, brownie, desserts etc. An amazing shop. Give them a try for your next dinner party or just for a treat. I want to go back just thinking about it. Simply delicious! I absolutely recommend Heart of Flavour.
