New Guidance on Certificates of Work, Producer Statements and Design Features Reports

The Ministry has released new guidance on the use of Certificates of Work, Producer Statements and Design Features Reports. It aims to clarify legislative requirements, encourage consistent processes and foster good-practice for practitioners who are involved in issuing and accepting certificates of design work (CoWs), producer statements and design features reports (DFRs) during the building consent process.

It has a residential focus for Canterbury where a large volume of house repairs and rebuilds are under way following the Canterbury earthquakes.

The guidance has national application, supplementing previous guidance on RBW requirements, and providing recommendations to achieve consistent and accurate documentation for building consents.
