Iko Iko is an Auckland institution. What started off as a shop selling kitschy tat in the late 90s, in recent years it has started selling increasingly classy/pricey goods. Without resorting to cliche, there really is something for everyone here, and Iko Iko is always my first stop for wedding gifts.
I absolutely LOVE Iko Iko. I live close to K Road so I pop into the store at least once a week, just to browse their awesome collection of kitsch curiosities. Everything in it is just pretty and weird and retro... like small white fluffy rabbit figurines with antlers... cushions with felt bull terriers on them... and my favourites, owls everywhere. I also love their keyrings.
The perfect stop for that last minute special gift. Their range is good looking and cute with a giant range of cool stuff. I can go there and find something for the newborn, a work colleague, best friend or my mum. I do sometimes treat myself - and it is dangerously close to the Link Bus Stop! From their articulate and broad range of badges to the art books, lamps, kiwiana, crockery and stationery, there is totally something for everyone. The window displays are constantly changing and always interesting. Late night trips along K Road always figure a stop outside the window to check it out. The wrapping service is artistic and personal and I could not do better myself. I cannot rave about this shop anymore.
