The best food and the best staff

Meats cook perfect,

The best steak I have ever had!! Plus the sides we ordered (Mac n cheese, onion rings, and kumara mash) were absolutely perfect. Great service too

LOVE this place. Every meal I've had here has been outstanding. The steak is all delicious - have the 36hr cooked one, divine! But also - can't go past the Onion rings. Delish!

This place has really good food. I had a very similar experience with The Grill. Very good service, waiters knew what they were talking about. I ordered beef with scallops on the side. They only had 1 scallop left and so they didn't charge us for it. Great atmosphere, pretty good food. :)

When it's time for a splurge and an unforgettable experience, a visit to Jervois Rd Steak House is in order. The brainchild of Simon Gault and Richard Sigley, the upmarket Herne Bay icon is all about taking a class in meat appreciation and restaurant heaven for a grass-fed beef lovin' gal like me. Tender, juicy and melt-in-the-mouth, it's an art form ordering a steak here and the few times I've been lucky enough to dine here, I've loved selecting from the choices of cut with the info about feed, breed and weight. The eye fillet is a favourite ... and also the T-bone for that matter! It's the place to come for a special occasion and the best tip anyone ever gave me was, 'Don't miss the sides!' In fact, this true steak houses' sides are as good as the main event. The onion rings are good, the peanut slaw even better. And if you aren't into steak, there's all sorts of lovely cuts of lamb, chicken and seafood on the menu too.

For the ultimate steakhouse experience, book a table at Jervois Steakhouse & Saloon in Herne Bay for an unforgettable feast. Simon Gault (of Euro and Masterchef fame) conducted extensive research of steakhouses in the US to recreate an authentic experience back home. The Jervois cut eye fillet is an excellent choice - farmed in the West Coast and fed on pure New Zealand pastures. If you really want to push the boat out, order the Blackmore wagyu - regarded worldwide as the best wagyu produced outside of Japan.

What a meatatarians heaven this place is. We booked for a leisurely lunch and as true beef addicts we thought it was about time we tried Aucklands premier Steak house. We were not disappointed. We decided to exercise our gluttony right and have a starter - salt & pepper prawns and the calamari snitzel. These were delightful but not too exciting in that I felt the prawns were great but there was too little of the yummy sauce to taste fully and albeit a unique concept , the calamari snitzel was good but not fabulous. The aoli with it was ordinary. But then…. the mains arrived. My partner had the sirloin and I had the petite fillet. One word…. Perfect. Then we tried the sides and sauces… OMG good is not appropriate. We got 4 sauces and although each was great… we settled on our 2 fav’s - The spinach and gorgonzola blue cheese….. AND the Brandy and green peppercorn… combined were out of this world. The sides were even better… we went for the perfect mix of candied kumara and the JSH creamed spinach. These 2 sides have now been voted as the best sides ( separately and even more so together) in New Zealand.. in fact perhaps just the world. We went a week ago and I am craving this divine meal every day. Fab service, fab wine and it really doesnt get much better than this.
