Think there’s nothing to do in Northland for winter time - think again! Kai Iwi Lakes is an idyllic summer spot and a champion fishing winter spot. You’ll be hauling in rainbow trout at this well known fishing hole. Note the word ‘kai’ in the name. That means Maori have known there is good food here for centuries! The trout average 1 kg, and can grow up to 4 or 4.5 kg, that’s a lot of fish!
