We were very happy when Kokako started opening on Sundays. It was very busy, but the staff were very friendly and the got us a table very quickly. The coffee was great and we really enjoyed the food, but would have liked slightly bigger proportions. It is a very cool space with lovely old features. We did find it a little noisy near the coffee machine, but overall really enjoyed it and will definitely go back.

Tried this after visiting both Cosset in mt albert and federal and Wolfe in town. I like the conversion of the old post office and the coffee is great. The food is equally tasty but in comparison to the aforementioned Cosset the portions are small. Good selection non the less and love the Muselli base on the ginger crunch.

Some very healthy food & excellent gluten & dairy free options, delicious coffee, excellent staff.  I wish them well. They have set new standards for Auckland cafes.

Wow! BEST new cafe?? That's a pretty big statement... Have to give then a go... thanks for the tip.

Having enjoyed the previous incarnation in Parnell many times, I can say that I was a little excited to hear about the new Kokako cafe in Grey Lynn.   Walking in to the old Post Office building is a little bit of a time warp as I remember coming here with my Postbank pocket book in the early 90s.  The space has been marvellously renovated - a mixture of clean whites, metal and natural woods.   Vegetarian!  A wonderful range of food that causes the tastebuds to salivate upon reading the menu.  I opted for the double baked souffle and my friend had the hash cake with goats cheese.  We both left feeling very satisfied and with plans to come back and try the rest of the menu.   The coffee was excellent and my long black was creamy and hot and the flat white was both flat and white. Will be back many times.  Working around the corner I have plans to bring each and every one of my work friends.
