Kohukohu Pub & Cafe or Koke, as the locals call it, is the hub of the neighbourhood.

Serving great meals everyday from 7am to 8pm, here's a tip from the locals: a roast meal can be booked ahead for Thursday night from 6:30pm. Pizzas are on the menu on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. All meals can be eaten at the cafe or taken away.

They even have their own Facebook group. How's that for commitment!

For a tiny, rural cafe these guys do top notch kai that could give flash city eateries a run for their money. Koke Cafe simply do some of the best pies in Northland. They're big puffy balls of flakey goodness and hearty fillings. Kohukohu is a must see for anyone traveling around Northland so make sure you get a pie while you're here!

Pies by the water, what more could you want? Well you can also get top-notch velvety coffee and divine fish and chips! This is definitely one of the best places to stop for lunch in the Hokianga with a lovely local fresh-aired feel about it.

A down-home feel with friendly locals, jukebox, pool tables and great food makes this harbourside pub and restaurant a good choice for the whole family. Get in on the in-house Super Rugby competition if you can. Ooh and before we forget, the chef at this rustic harbourside café is a genius. The pastries are nothing but buttery deliciousness and as well as all the old favourites for fillings, there’s creative takes such as steak and blue cheese, and vegetarian choices (because everybody loves pie!) so popular they’ve been known to start (good-natured) fights among locals. They’ll run you a little more than a standard pie, but are worth every cent!
