Went here on Wednesday night with 3 friends, one of them is off the farm and literally can't have anything spicier than salt and pepper - the waitress suggested a couple of dishes (not the children's menu) and when it arrived he lapped it up like it was meat and 3 veg!! We all shared a bottle of dog point sav and had our meals to the level of spiciest we wanted, amazing food, staff were awesome, great time and ambience- will def come back and tell all my friends. great night, great friends, great place!!
La Boca Loca is an old fave when in town, though usually I've been there for dinner. It was nice to pop in for lunch last weekend, and see that they've got a great selection of flavoursome treats at lunchtime as well, with some interesting variations on familiar themes. I chose the crispy fried tortillas topped with grilled halloumi, and my son had the quesadilla. And as the sun was over the yard-arm I also had a variation on a bloody mary - with tequila. These guys do good, simple, fresh, interesting food, and the service is always warm and friendly. I'll be back!
La Boca Loca is rightly renowned in Wellington for doing great Mexican food, made with fantastic local produce. What's more, they do it at a reasonable price in a vibrant setting. I had the enchilada pollo, and was keen to spice it up a bit. La Boca Loca has a range of chilli relishes of varying heat levels, and I couldn't resist trying the habanero - which was clearly signalled as being VERY hot. And yes it was, though lovely in very small doses. The locals love it here, and I can see why. Really good food, great staff, and a range of seasonal margaritas to wash it all down with.
