French food in Nelson comes from La Gourmandise -an authentic French style cafe, creperie and restaurant. During the day they serve beautiful coffees, french pastries and their speciality - delicious and crispy savoury buckwheat crepes with a variety of toppings, savoury and sweet. Then there’s also a traditional bistro style “a la carte” menu, with classic mains along with seasonal and regional French specialities. Yum.

    Good coffee and wonderful crepes as well as galettes

      A little slice of Paris here on Nelson’s Hardy Street. La Gourmandise is proof that it’s not expensive to go a little bit French. Savoury galettes (like the Provencale: cheese, goats cheese, tomatoes, thyme, $13.50) are made with buckwheat flour to give them an earthy, authentic flavour and texture. Or you can enjoy the sweetness of crepes starting at $4.50 with butter and sugar – simple is good, ooh la la.
