Lone Star Cafe and Bar in Taupo is a relaxed setting, great for a pre-movie dinner. You can choose to go large on dinner, or get one of their entree sized meals to tide you over before you attack a bucket of popcorn at Taupo’s Starlight Cinema. If you’re taking kids to the movies, this is a good place to take them prior as it will ensure their tummies are well filled up, so you can enjoy the movie with no "mum I’m hungry!" disturbances!
Two words: Longhorn Cheesecake. It’s a divine sweet temptation you can only get at Lone Star. And Lone Star Taupo dishes up the best Longhorn Cheesecake. If you’re in a grumpy mood, or craving for something sweet, this one will not disappoint. It’s basically a Kahlua and Moro Bar, served with chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
Great food, huge servings and sport. Pretty much a guy’s dream. I go there with my partner and he gets to watch all the sport he wants while I get to eat dessert basically. Their TV screens are well placed throughout the restaurant and if you don’t feel like a meal, it’s a good place to go for some basketball, rugby, or soccer, while having a few bevvies. Go on, go secure your place during the FIFA World Cup.
