They have quiz night on Tuesday's which I've always been meaning to go along to. (love Nothing Trivial...) It's a great place in winter as well, as there is an outdoor fire place which keeps the crowd warm!!

I like to come up here and grab a cheeky beer every now and then. Service is with a smile and the selection of drinks is pretty good.

The Sh'oosh team go to Malt quite alot for after work drinks and tapas. Malt serves very good food. Awesome little bar. The staff there are great and always give top service.

when I used to live in West Lynn this was a great place for an after work drink. I like the outside garden part of the bar with the outside fire. Also cosy in winter with the inside fire too.

I'm a sucker for a good cozy place to listen to music and catch up with friends and this is one of the better place to do just that in all of Graylynn. I've found the bartenders to be very friendly when it comes to drink recommendations as well. Great little patio out back to stay warm when it's raining out.

Nice place to drop in to for a catch up with friends.

When I first moved to Auckland, I was living briefly in Grey Lynn. Malt was a go-to place for beer and lite food. The interior is quite nice,l with several tables inside and a heated outdoor area, including a hearth that generates a lot of warmth. The beer selection is quite good and they have Frenz cards for loyal customers. Their fish & chips are nothing spectacular (I'm very choosy about me fish & chips), but their chicken satay salad is quite delicious; I've had it twice. The best thing about this place is the ambiance: dark wood interiors, dark wood tables, and the right kind of spacing and noise levels that make it easy to socialize without feeling like you have to shout to be heard. The duty managers are quite good, and the bartenders are so-so -- they have a tendency to pay special attention to pretty girls and older gentlemen. I think I'll wear a blonde wig the next time I want faster bar service.

My friend used to work as a chef here and he highly recommends the steak at Malt. Case in point, prior to working at Malt he used to be a Vegan. Soon after they managed to convert him into a carnivore through and through. Of course this place is great for a few beers with your Grey Lynn mates too.

Malt used to be out local and the way the rain is pouring down outside today I am wishing it still was. With great fires both inside and out and a covered outdoor area it's a cosy place to escape the chill. It's equally nice to hang out here as a couple or in a group. The menu is hearty and full of irresistible food. The Tapas menu has a decent selection of bar classics. The standout on the mains menu is the Beef and Monteiths' Black Pie - perfect for a cold night out - but all your standard classics are on there and done extremely well. I might just go there tonight...
