If you can drag your sleepy feet out of bed and into Maranui early, I can garuntee it will be worth it! This surf-life saving club cafe teeters on the edge of a wonderfully, typical Wellington beach. The food is good, really good and reasonably priced, the service is efficient and friendly. Watch the waves roll in and the surfers bob up and down while you sp on a hot coffee. There are lines here most mornings but they move fast and are worth the wait! Perfect place to come to get out of the city and embrace the seaside.
Maranui make the best big veggie breakfast in town. And I have had quite a few breakfasts in town. I like the fact that they have guacamole, a homemade nutty pesto, baked potatoes, slow roasted tomatoes with balsamic vinegar to make them really tasty. So, some really nice extras that you don't get anywhere else. And it's really tasty!
Maranui’s popular at all times of year, and especially in summer due to its close proximity to the beach. But I actually like it best in the colder months, when it’s stormy and grey outside (and there aren’t queues out the door). I get a coffee and sit in the window and watch the waves break against the beach – it’s really quite poetic.
