The Masterton Miniature Train has been delighting local children since it first began its thrilling journeys around Queen Elizabeth park in 1972. Run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers from the Masterton Miniature Train Society, the open top red diesel train has become a local icon with its station, bridges, working crossing lights and bells.

Sit back with the wind in your hair and enjoy views of the lake and the busy park where local families enjoy a range of fun activities in the sun.

A real treat for the kids, the train runs at weekends, public holidays and during school holidays.

The first time I took my daughter on a miniature train it was so hard to get her off! It goes right through the park and it lovely on a sunny day. It runs during the weekend and public and school holidays so it's a great way to get out and have fun as a family.

The society operates the red, miniature train in Queen Elizabeth Park and judging by the smiles on kids faces as they go around the scenic pond and through the tunnel, it’s lots of fun. It’s only a dollar a ride, so it’s a great option for families being careful with money.
