Space and food and the variety

A perfect Saturday morning for me is to wake up early and drive to the Matakana Markets, grab some coffee and wander around tasting and buying yummy treats and then driving through to Tawharanui beach. Perfection!

So easy to pig out on everything

My actual favorite part is getting an ice cream blend with fresh organic berries from the OOB shop just around the corner.

Worth the trip! I love going for day trips up to Matakana and Pakiri- so stopping in at the market to stock up on treats is a really great way to start the day.

Start the day off right by browsing through the stalls at Matakana Village Farmers' Market and tasting all the delicious samples on offer for breakfast. The early bird catches the pastries, so arrive as early as possible to beat the crowds and reward yourself with a good strong coffee.

The selection and the drive is great for a Saturday morning trip!

Awesome market with great food and coffee and live music. Plenty of cafes around too.

I love this place. Popped in on a Saturday with an empty tummy and some cash in hand and had a wonderful time. Lovely people, lovely food (I highly recommend six oysters for $8 - they are amazingly delicious and well priced). My boyfriend stared longingly at the buffalo burgers (buffalo meat and cheese) but they had sold out. Come early and be sure to check out the other excellent attractions nearby like Fossick and the op shop (only open for a very short window!).

Yummy treats of local produce,, an easy escape from the city. The indie markets on Sunday are also great for crafty products.
