The snow is falling not too far away, but despite the bitter cold this place was rocking mid-morning, with a bright sunny courtyard, cool music, open spaces and delightfully and beautifully presented fresh cakes and salads. There’s a thoughtful breakfast menu including a Vegetarian and GF Rejuvenator – hummus, pesto, chutney, avocado, cherry tomato, mushroom, courgette with a poached egg. But the very yummy Smashed Avocado – avocado with coriander, kale, rocket, with a hint of chilli with pan bursts cherry toms took my fancy. Following the success of their first café, The Mount’s 88 – now sold – Joel and Kate have put together another successful formula here.

The name of this new cafe is on everyone’s lips in Tauranga this week. The modern coffee house opened its doors, next to the famous Grindz on 1st Avenue on Monday, and is already receiving awesome reviews from coffee lovers.
