What a lovely place for afternoon tea on a sunny day! Melrose house is a restored victorian mansion on the hills above Nelson, a short drive from the town centre. The cafe is stylish, elegant and serves beautiful food all day long - in fact their breakfast is rumoured to be the best in town,

    What a gorgeous cafe and house, makes me wish I lived there. Will have to content myself with a cuppa and a daydream.

      Arguably the best brekky in town. Gorgeous setting in the old house, great service and a delicious menu. Grandad’s Free Range Egg Omelette is my favourite but there is also Whole Baby Flounder or the very proper Tea & Toast. Great destination for a sunday morning to remember.

        This is my pick for the best breakfast in town. I would take my mother here, and I’d love my kids to take me here (hint hint) on Mother’s Day for breakfast, morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea. Any or all of the above would suffice!

          Combine a pot of speciality tea, three layers of miniature morsels and a beautiful setting in the gardens and you have the perfect day out for high tea. It's hard to pick a favourite bite from the home made delicacies like onion jam tarts, rhubarb mudcakes, mini croissants and profiteroles, so it's best to just dig in.

            Stunning, elegant, classy and coffee. Couldn't get much better. Love sitting out on the verandah here or in the garden while enjoying my coffee in the sunshine. It's a great way to impress someone in the early morning.
