Thank you Motat for being free for the month of June. We popped in today and ( looked like so did most of Auckland) for the last day of free entry. Always a fun and educational place. Only complaint was the toilets near the front road were dirty looking and only two of them, also the door nearly whacked everyone as people burst in.. not pleasant. Also not enough cafes ( the queue was too long and never moved). Apart from that a wonderful day out for all ages.
this is a great little day trip for the family if you have a free saturday, i went here on the weekend and loved the sights, its so educational but without even thinking about it, the trains were a great sight and you could get up and close to everything, a really well spend saturday. afterwards its only a skip and a hop over to western springs aswell for a bit of afternoon tea, a must go and see.
I took my military mad 10 year old son to MOTAT on the weekend and he loved it. I try to take him to the Military Weekend every year. He loves the re-enactments and tank rides. Was sorry that the children's obstacle course was missing this year. We also had a wander around the main part of MOTAT and enjoyed the "Playing with Light" exhibit. My son had a good giggle on the earthquake similator.
