The Mount Cook cafe is always busy with Massey faculty and students sipping on the strong coffee.
You wouldn't expect it to be so toasty warm as it's in an old house but the cafe is a great place to visit when the weather turns cold. An ancient looking fireplace keeps everyone warm. On some nights you will be treated to the 50′s jazz/swing music to relax to with a light meal.
Vegetarians can rejoice with their healthy options, both on the menu and in the cabinet. Others can grab the traditional cafe meals like paninis, burgers and sandwiches.

This place is deceptive. From the outside Mount Cook Cafe looks like a very average suburban cafe. Walk inside however, and you’ll find a decent spot where you can pretty much always get a table, the coffee is strong, and the menu and counter food all taste good. It might be standard cafe fair, but if you live in Mount Cook, it’s close and will do the job.
This house-turned-cafe steams up on a cold day with the Massey faculty and students. With its old-school fireplace and brick floor, it's the perfect place to get lost in during a hard day's lunch break. The cabinet cake selection is as decadent as it looks. Nothing beats procrastinating with a warm piece of chocolate brownie and a cup of well-earned coffee.
