There's not many fish & chips with this sort of setup! Walk in, choose your type of fish (the staff were very helpful in choosing), choose the batter, and choose the chips. All had heaps of options & variety - enough to please anyone with a craving for chips. I personally got the beer battered snapper with crinkle cut heaps. Delightful!
It is tradition that every Friday night my significant other and I get takeaways. There are always a few contenders, but at least fifty percent of the time we decide on Mt. Vic Chippery. With its grand opening earlier this year, Mt. Vic is certainly not the longest standing fish & chip shop in Wellington, but with its fresh look, relatively reasonable prices, and generous portions, Mt. Vic Chippery is quickly becoming a favorite. The shop is always bustling, and with a seemingly ever expanding/changing menu reflecting seasonal availability, Mt. Vic Chippery keeps two vegetarian fish and chip-minus-the-fish enthusiasts very happy. Give the vege burger a try, or if nothing else come in for the chippery's eponymous wide variety of chips. From crinkle cut to kumara, you really can't go wrong. They take orders online now, too: http://www.mtvicchippery.co.nz/
Absolutely cannot explain how much I just love this chippery! It's right up my alley, with the choices of fish (all fresh), then you choose your batter, then you choose your chip type (even handcut agria, nomm) and when it is all packaged up in a very clean, gorgeous wee branded box, you can add as much salt and vinegar or lemon to your order as you like! It's a very straight forward idea, but branded and presented so professionally that you just feel like these chips aren't just your every day run-of-the-mill-greasy-chips-wrapped-in-paper - they are delicious and they seem so clean in comparison!! Cannot 'Love' this place anymore than I already do. Will continue to keep coming back.
Mt Vic Chippery has just opened but it’s firing on all cylinders already. They offer a good selection of fresh fish which you can choose to have beer battered, panko’ed, crumbed or tempura’ed. On the chip front, there are several choices, but the handcut agria chips were incredible -crisp and savoury. This is definitely going to be my go- to fish & chip shop in Wellington!
