Food was great, staff were great, company was great. The staff really know how to look after a customer well but not intrude on the night.

As if you need an excuse to eat fab food, O'Connell St Bistro are offering a great value pre-theatre menu with two courses for $36.50, or three for $42.50. For a perfect date, grab a delicious meal from this award-winning restaurant before heading off to a night at the movies. The toughest problems you'll face will be: "Should I get the crispy fried squid or the confit duck ravioli?" and "will the amazing food be the best part of the evening, or will it be the movie?"

If you want old-school elegance and great food, come here. In this day and age of casual 'shared plates', and 'family-style' restaurants, O'Connell St Bistro is a place where you can enjoy a more traditional style of dining. Try the pineapple mille feuille - so good!

I used to live on Shortland Street and would pass by this little bistro (on the corner of Shortland and O’Connell) every single day on my way to and from work. By the time I finally tried it, we had moved to a new place, and that’s probably for the best - otherwise I would be spending far too much money here! I’m no food critic, but to me every plate that came out looked more stunning than the last, and the taste did not disappoint!

O'Connell St Bistro provided me with the single best service experience I have had in Auckland. Understated but thoughtful, the service was truly spectacular. The food was equally good. 

know what fine dinning is all about . Book dress for the occaision , take your time enjoy the excellent service . Leave the car at home grab a cab . I love O'Connell St restuarant on a rainy night , it is so city , so I hate to say it Londonish New Yorkish . But don't order the brussel sprouts , they remove the core and serve the outer leaves only .Unbeleivable. Everything else about this resturant is perfect . A+++++ 

We had dinner here last weekend; the food is just gorgeous, the room is warm and inviting, and the wine (as recommended by the sommelier) was lovely.  Really enjoyed it.  It's special-occasion dining done well.
