We love this beach. It's reasonably close to Auckland with beautiful white sand and sparkling blue water. It's such a long beach that it never feels too crowded. There are surf lifesavers patrolling the beach. It's a safe beach anyway for kids, but the surf lifesavers make it even more so. Close to a playground and shops for after your swim. A great day out!
I had some time to kill as we were waiting for my husband and we were in Orewa and not sure where to go or what to do. I found my way to the beach and it was beautiful. Got lost trying to find my way back to my husband but being there was fantastic. The kids loved getting to go for a run on the beach and once they were done playing on the beach there was a playground we discovered which had lots of wooden built items, like a big play house which my girls loved playing shop in. We had a great morning in the sun.
As a peninsula local this beach is a spot we frequent, especially on a weekend afternoon when we have a bit of time to spare just walking along this lengthy beach drawing pictures in the sand or saving stranded starfish with my little boy and returning them to the surf. In the summer this spot gets pretty lively and the playgrounds nearby pretty packed with visitors.
