recently I did a trip from Christchurch to Auckland I purchased more days , I was allowed 4 and purchased two so I was a way for 6 days . the van was a 4 berth Maui Campervan and I really enjoyed the trip up the Kaikoura Coast .Did not stay over night in the campervan in kaikoura , I stayed at the youth hostel and parked the van out side over night .

last month I did my favourite trip , because I like driving I took a campervam from .Adelaide South Australia to Melbourne across the Strait to Tasmania .Seven days later I arrived in Hobart . I used the standby cars relocation site .An Australian firm that also has a New Zealand contact number .

Cost of this trip $35.00 Au per day [I used my travel insurance for cover] .The ferry fares were covered by the relocation company .So all I had to do was pay fro the petrol .

Nice trip nice way to travel , take plenty of warm gear at this time of the year .

The cost of the trip from Christchurch to Auckland was $0.00 hireage , the ferry fare was paid for the vehicle by the company ,I paid the one person fare and the petrol to Auckland from Christchurch which wasn't to bad when you consider that the vehicle hireage was zero .1,500 kilometers I think if I am right was near to $380.00 NZD.Some companies also pay for the petrol .But please read all the details carefully before booking .Check what is included so you do not get a shock because you have to pay the ferry fare for the van or large heavy van .

We broke the trip in the Central North Island at the Mangaweka reserve Mangaweka .Driving non stop Wellington to Auckland is dangerous and falling asleep at the wheel or general drousyness is a real problem that can lead to a crash   .

[ please note that if you have just arrived from overseas make sure you do not drive on the first day in New Zealand or if you do make it a short trip , pick up the campervan motorhome or RV and spend the first night sleeping , getting ready for your road trip .People have arrived in the country under estimated distances and have died in a crash because of jet lag falling asleep at the wheel ]

Remember if you are going to travel when schools are not on holiday you are more likily to get a good relo deal .
