After being told over and over to give them a try, I visited Petal and bought two cupcakes.... they are almost too beautiful to eat, but sooooo yummy :9 I got one plum cupcake, and a red velvet and buttermilk one as well. It's a pretty little shop, and it's right next to witchery... so you can buy yourself a new shawl and then dine on on a rose-shaped sweet-treat. How Victorian ;D
I've had petal cupcakes a couple of times, and while they look seriously cute, I was a bit disappointed with the flavour of the cupcake compared to the sweetness of the icing - to be fair though I did get them, both times, towards the end of the day, and there were only a few left. I haven't tried some of the more popular flavours yet, but despite my comments above, I would love to do so in the future - that being said, I think I'll enjoy them with a nice cup of milk to help with any sweetness ;)
Most cupcake businesses get one thing right - the icing or the cake - but Petal do BOTH so well that you walk away with an amazing snack/dessert. The staff are always very friendly and there is usually a new flavour to try each time at the counter. The attention to detail in their boxes mean these are also great for business meetings or as a gift as they look so impressive. It’s dangerous to have a cupcake store this close to me, but what the heck, it’s always worth the calories!!
