The Petone Wharf was built in 1883 by the Gear Meat Company, initially used to load and unload ships coming and going from the Gear Meat Works. The council acquired the wharf and it’s now used for recreational purposes and occasionally for ferry transport.

Good for a family time, the catch might not be spectacular but you are ensured a good day and only short journey for little ones that might not be able to go on a boat or last in other locations. Close to Jackson Street so if all fails you should be able to get something from the local seafood shops to ‘pretend’ that you caught something when you get home…
