All desserts at Ploughmans are only $12, so good for a night out without breaking the bank. My favourite is the Chocolate Cointreau self-saucing pudding. As chocolate as it can get and an absolute melt in your mouth delight. If you’re gluten free, try their orange cake, served with a yummy lime sorbet.
Well-cooked lamb shanks is a favourite on any menu, and Ploughman’s Taupo no doubt does it justice. Their twice-cooked lamb shanks are glazed with an unusual kiwifruit and honey sauce, and served with a delicious gravy. The setting is peaceful and quiet and is great for a winter meal. Two shanks are never enough and you always leave wanting to come back.
If you want to sit amongst darkly stained wood reminiscent of a traditional English pub then Ploughmans is the place to go. Their food is styled on the traditional British grub that is hearty with a unique Kiwi twist such as the lamb shanks with kiwifruit gravy. The shanks fell off the bone and the sweetness of the kiwifruit was the perfect compliment.
