Portofinos is the perfect little Italian bistro, it’s probably my favourite type of cuisine in the world and I’m glad there is a place like Portofinos where I can come and celebrate that! My favourite dish (but not by much) would have to be the risotto alla pescatora; in other words seafood risotto with white wine and finished with cream! I’ve had this thing for risotto recently and I’m loving the creamy texture this dish gives to the palate.

Portofino’s is another one of my favourite Italian restaurants to go to. It’s a small place but it’s nice and cosy; perfect for any kind of date, whether you’ve been together for years or if it’s a new flame. They stress that it’s a comfortable setting that can be enjoyed for any type of date, from casual to one where you might pop the question! You will be spoilt for choice as the menu is huge, but that’s not to say that they skip the quality, try the Risotto di Pollo, which is chicken and mushroom sautéed with fresh herbs in a tomato crema!

Portofino’s is a much underrated little Italian restaurant and its intimate dining atmosphere is the best. Their aim is to create Al Fresco dining reflecting Italian tradition with the freshness and abundance of New Zealand. I came here for a friend’s birthday and wow was the food good! I ordered the very popular Chicken Fettuccine which I could not fault, and my friend opted for the cannelloni filled with ricotta and spinach smothered in a tomato and béchamel sauce; it looked mouth-watering. You’ll have to sort out bill payment before unfortunately because there is only one account per table, but on the upside, you know its authentic Italian food when you can’t pronounce half the items on the menu!
