After a fantastic walk up, around & down Mangere Mountain with our two young boys we desperately needed a strong coffee & hearty feed - Ruby Red did not disappoint. The menu was pleasantly refreshing - traditional favourites done in a modern way with genuinely friendly service that made as feel so welcome. The boys devoured their bacon butties made with five grain bread with relish & mayo, the husband practically inhaled his egg benedict & I kept it healthy (I'd spied the sweets in the cabinet) with lemon chicken salad served with chickpeas, honey carrot, kumara & tzatziki. The 'afters' didn't disappoint - great big slices of lemon meringue pie, sticky lemon slice, tiramisu (yes you can have it for brekkie here!) & chocolate biscuit fudge just to name a few. The husband is rather fussy when it comes to his coffee being strong & he was very happy! They also have a meat pie & sausage roll cabinet - they'd sold out so we'll have to get there earlier next time. Really, really worth a trip to Mangere Bridge for this gem of a cafe that does everything right.
