Ponsonby institution Santos Cafe has been serving up top-notch food and superb coffee since 1995.

With a sunny courtyard out back and what's arguably the best Eggs Benedict in Auckland, it's a great place to lounge with friends or grab their famously silky cup of coffee. They also do half-serve breakfasts for those who aren't quite hungry enough for their generous full portions.

Friendly staff, yummy snacks and consistently great coffee

    Haloumi is pretty much the food of the cheese gods when it's done right, and the haloumi in this salad from Ponsonby institution Santos (1/2 size $13; full $17) was grilled to perfection. Team it up with an Amazon juice (cucumber, apple, mint and ginger; $6.50) and a sit-down in their newly refurbished courtyard and you'll leave feeling fighting fit.

      Lovely place to head to if the sun is out and you want a great salad and coffee. A Favourite of mine.

        The Rainbow Juice at Santos is a total winner - cannot be beaten as a fresh and fruity hangover cure. And while I haven't tried it, their Banana Loaf toasted with maple syrup sounds similarly awesome!

          I can't have eggs benedict anywhere else now, this place has ruined it for me!! Eggs are always perfectly runny, hollaindase sause is just right - not too creamy or buttery, but full of flavour - and then they serve it with pesto!! It may not be for everyone - but i highly recommend them - ether salmon or bacon adn they do half size too! Coffee is very good too! Lovely to have brakfast in the courtyard on a cool morning :)

            we've made this spot a regular meet up. Quality coffee and able to relax is all that required!

              Although we had quite a long wait for our brunch the food was worth it. Half size eggs bene is a great idea as I usually struggle to finish a whole one on my own. Came with a yummy pesto as well. Was nice to sit there on a warm day and have the view of bustling Ponsonby Road.

                They serve great food out of that tiny kitchen of theirs. The Panini's are great and the coffee is always top notch. A great place to brunch.
