This is a great cafe. The food prices are nice and you are not loaded up with tons of food that you do not like or cannot finish (I'm into quality, not quantity).  Great natural light and friendly staff.  They have regular tables, a high table and outdoor seating, which gives nice variety.  And now they have beer and wine too :) Try the mocha! It is great and will leave you wanting more and more!

    Theses guys do an awesome Hot Chocolate use a whole dark chocolate sainty bar. Cool location and an awesome coffee graphic on the wall too!

        I work close to the one in Kingsland, and live across the road from this one.  Both are equally great, one time my partner went there, and while reading the paper a cup of coffee was placed in front of him - as he looks up he realises it was an All-Black delivering his morning coffee! A pleasant suprse :)

          Somehow, even though it's bustling as a very bustly thing, I've always been able to find a spot to sit when I've popped in for lunch or a sit down morning coffee, usually with colleagues or friends. I'm personally a fluffy sort of person, but my friends really rate the coffee and I must admit the cups are pretty dinky. Staff are friendly and coffee and food has always arrived quickly, which is perfect for the office half or hour lunchtime. I'm a fan of the salads which change, I assume, daily and the atmosphere is friendly and busy but not rushed. AI good spot to sit down and enjoy being in Britomart - prices are fairly reasonable too.

              Shaky is an excellent breakfast and cafe spot, with a funky personality, quirky ideas and just a generally good feel. I'm lucky enough to get staff discount here as I work for Pack, but full prices shouldn't stop you - these guys do great coffee, incredible hot chocolates (with a slab of whittakar's in there for kicks), neat cabinet foods. But the star of their show are their pikelets and smoothies. Try the lycée, mint and kiwifruit with lemon curd and blueberry pancakes, served with mascarpone (YUM). It's a light, airy, bustling space to catch up with friends or you can sit in the window and watch Britomart move around you. The staff are funky people with a little bit of attitude thrown in, just my kind of mix. Stay classy, Shaky.

                Superb review :)

                We are based upstairs in the Generator office and are in Shakys almost every day. We love it, it is friendly, airy, modern, funky- and the food is great. Strongly recommend popping in, using the free WIFI, and grabbing a coffee or more.

                  Nice airy space and decent menu and coffee. Just what you need after an early morning stroll around the waterfront. They had a lovely big window where we could keep an eye on our bikes outside and even though it was a public holiday, they were very much open.
