A $50 5 course degustation menu for Friday lunch was an offer too good for us to turn down, especially as a birthday treat. Parking is not thrilling but the place, albeit deep in an arcade, is easy to find. The welcome was good and the environment certainly upmarket and to my liking. There is even a superb view. The food was delectable and certainly made my palate very happy. Mixed with the exuberant but excellent service this was a fabulous experience, and one of my new fav’s for fine dining. I can’t wait to come back and try the evening tasting menu.
We arrived in Three Lamps and meandered into an arcade and up a flight of stairs to find Sidart. The space is plush and the atmosphere pleasant. We had the five course degustation menu which is a special lunch deal. Each course was an adventure in flavour. The foams, seasoning, meats and sauces were all just right. A very enjoyable experience.
The historic Three Lamps Plaza in Ponsonby is home to Sidart, an intimate dining space and the only restaurant in New Zealand to change its menu weekly. Every Tuesday the new menu is introduced and trialled by owner and chef Sid Sahrawat, and you can even book in for the test kitchen at $80.00 per head. From Wednesday to Saturday they offer 5 courses for $95 and 10 courses for $140, wine matches additional.
