Soul Bar & Bistro

Wanted to see if it was as good as the hype. Got a lovely table outside overlooking the viaduct.  Ordered a steak and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.  I think the service is good but the attitudes of staff seem to be a bit stuck up. I want to be treated like I'm valued when I choose a restaurant of this standard but feel their customer service a little lacking here. The bar looks like a load of fun and very busy but am yet to try it.    Will definitely be back especially on those hot summer balmy evenings sitting outside.   Cant beat that positioning.

Soul is on the pricey side but my flatmate and I are intent on working our way through the cocktail menu over time and spot a celeb or two while we're there! They also put All Blacks games on the big screen so you can drag the males in your life along with you.

The set ladies lunches during September are great value. Usually around $28.50 for bread & olives, main, dessert and a wine. The portions are generous I don't think it's restricted to ladies either.

Always consistent, especially with the fish. Can be rowdy when the bar gets going later in the evening.

I think it's hard when you've been round a few years at this price point... the seafood and esp the fish of the day is always great but it's got to really exceed expectations so that you don't fall over when you get the bill...

Has lost a bit of it's edge in recent years, but still a nice place for a lunch or evening meal, particularly in summer, all be it a little pricey.
